Derek Monkman, FCAMPT, MPT, BHK
Derek completed his Bachelors of Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia before going on to complete his Masters of Physical Therapy (MPT) in 2013. His involvement at UBC has continued as a Clinical Skills Assistant, helping instruct in the MPT program. Derek has since gone on to complete advanced training in orthopaedic assessment and treatment techniques, becoming a Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy (FCAMPT) in 2017.
Derek has a keen interest in all musculoskeletal injuries, and has worked with a diverse population throughout his career. His treatment approach includes manual therapy, IMS/Dry Needling, and exercise; he believes every client should have a individualized rehabilitation plan to get them back on track and doing the things they enjoy.
EriC Marriott, FCAMPT, MPT, BHK
Eric obtained his Master of Physical Therapy and Bachelor of Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia. He has proudly obtained his Diploma of Advanced Orthopaedic Manual and Manipulative Therapy (FCAMPT) in 2017. He has completed additional training in dry needling/ intramuscular stimulation (IMS), manual therapy techniques, the Selective Functional Movement Assessment and Functional Movement Screen.
Eric has a wide range of clinical experience, from treating athletes and weekend warriors alike. Eric’s clients have included professional and international competitors in a variety of sports (rugby, basketball, baseball, hockey, soccer, taekwondo). Eric uses a blend of manual therapy, individualized exercises and education to help clients get back to optimal function and doing the things they love.
Shenise born, MPT, BHK
Shenise earned her Master of Physical Therapy from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver after completing a Bachelor of Human Kinetics from the University of British Columbia Okanagan. She emphasizes the use of exercise and manual therapy in her practice, and is continuing her training through the Canadian Division of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. Shenise grew up in the Okanagan-Shuswap area where she developed a love for sports, lake activities, and all things outdoors. Her passion for living an active lifestyle, along with rehabilitating through various injuries of her own, has inspired her to provide effective physiotherapy care to all her patients.
Being an avid runner, Shenise has a keen interest in running injury and prevention, and has expertise in treating runners. She offers running specific assessments, including running gait analysis.
Zwannie De Beer, MPT, BSc
Zwannie graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Masters in Physiotherapy. Prior to that, she completed her Bachelor of Science degree at the University of Victoria. Zwannie has an interest in all types of orthopaedic injuries and has begun post graduate training with the Canadian Division of Orthopaedic Manual Therapy. She also has experience working in a hospital environment where she is involved with creating rehabilitation programs for various acute and chronic conditions for people of all ages. Her approach to physiotherapy incorporates manual therapy, IMS/Dry Needling, patient education, and individualized exercise prescription in order to correct and optimize biomechanics to prevent re-injury
caroline toop, MPT, Bsc
Caroline was born and raised in Victoria, B.C. where she developed a love for sports, singing, dance, and the great outdoors. Her passion for human physiology, collaboration, and helping others has led her to a career in physiotherapy.
She completed a Bachelor of Science at the University of Victoria and is a graduate of the University of British Columbia Master of Physical Therapy program. Her studies have included course work in Argentina and Australia, as well as clinical experience in India.
Caroline believes in working closely with clients to develop individualized treatment plans to help them achieve their goals and get back to the activities they love. Her physiotherapy approach involves a combination of manual therapy, exercise, and education. Caroline loves working with a diverse clientele: from teens to older adults, and from recreational to elite athletes.
In her spare time, Caroline enjoys travel, recreational sport, live music, cooking up a new dish, and everything outdoors.
