Injections

A valuable diagnostic and treatment modality for patients experiencing a musculoskeletal condition.

Footbridge physicians provide injections as a treatment option for certain musculoskeletal conditions.  All Footbridge physicians are highly qualified to identify when an injection would be appropriate for optimal treatment outcome based on the concerns the patient provides during the consultation.

Many injections below can be administered in the office during an appointment, however sometimes the doctor may refer to another facility or specialist for an image-guided injection.

Corticosteroid Injections

Corticosteroids (steroids) are anti-inflammatory medicines used to treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions.  Steroids are most commonly injected into a joint to relieve pain and inflammation.  The injection itself often contains the steroid and a local anesthetic which will help to minimize the pain from administering the injection itself.

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) therapy uses a concentration of a patient’s own platelets and injects the concentration into the injured area to accelerate the healing process. PRP injection are most commonly used to treat tendon and ligament injuries but can also be used to treat arthritis and meniscal injuries.

Hyaluronic Acid (HA)

Hyaluronic acid (also known as viscosupplementation) is a natural part of the fluid that helps lubricate and cushion joints; patients with osteoarthritis experience a decrease or thinning of HA in the joints.  An injection of HA can help replenish the body’s natural supply.
